Skoda have a lot of advantages. You save a pretty penny over a VW car and you don't lose a whole lot if things like the utmost comfort aren't a huge concern. That said, part of why Skoda is cheap is I don't think they'd sell in the US. Most of what they make is small, efficient cars with little 100-150hp engines.
For the general service at VW/Skoda, which includes oil change, air filter, consumables and labour, the total cost would come to around 10-12k. If you have any other issues related to electronics or mechanical then the spare part cost will vary. It is usually on the higher side as compared to Honda.
