Timing Belt Replacement Prices for Eco Sport. I'm guessing the 3 cylinder might be cheaper if for no other reason than there might be more room to do it. The 4 has a chain instead of a belt. It's supposed to be maintenance-free. Per the manual and maintenance schedule, the timing belt is to be replaced at 150k miles.
Normally myself and the others here on the forum would recommend servicing and replacing the wet belts on the replacement engine before it's fitted but that would cost an extra £600 - £800. My advice would be get the minimum work done.
